A note on traditional fabrics: ikat is a traditional weaving method where the threads of the fabric are dyed individually before weaving them together. This is different from modern methods where the fabric is woven and then dyed. Dying the threads first then weaving them together gives ikat its characteristic 'fuzzy' appearance around the geometric shapes.
